Internships

Our full-time internships are designed to enable current students in a quantitative field to translate their skills and expertise into an industrial setting.

INTRODUCTION

You will join us at our office in Cambridge, UK, where you will have the opportunity to work alongside our team of software developers, mathematicians, quantum information theorists, computational chemists and physicists – all experts in their fields.

Interns will have a dedicated supervisor and work on a project designed to make the best use of their background and skills whilst developing their knowledge of quantum computing. We will support all interns to try and produce a concrete output by the end of the internship e.g. a paper, product, or software tool. During your internship you will:

  • Develop an understanding of quantum algorithms and industrial applications of quantum computers
  • Research, devise and develop algorithms and software to enhance Riverlane’s capabilities
  • Contribute to one or more projects that are core to Riverlane’s scientific goals
  • Discuss ideas with colleagues and communicate research in the form of presentations and reports

HOW TO APPLY

In 2022, we will run 3 schemes:

  • a summer scheme for Masters and PhD students for 8-12 weeks, where we will provide you with a project given your background and Riverlane’s priorities.
  • a 3-6 month project specific scheme for PhD students only.
  • a design intern to work closely with our Product Designer.

Applications are now open and will close on 17th February.

Please note that we will accept applications from (i) current university students who are UK / Irish nationals or who have UK / Irish settled status or (ii) international candidates who are currently studying full-time at an established UK university and hold a tier 4 visa.

Open Roles

Quantum Computing Internship for PhD Students

Our full-time internships are designed to enable current students in a quantitative field to step out of their PhD research for a short time period and to translate their skills and expertise into an industrial setting. We welcome and encourage applications from people who do not have a background in quantum computing, including computer scientists, software engineers and developers. This year, we are looking for candidates to apply for one of six internship projects.
