Internships
Our full-time internships are designed to enable current students in a quantitative field to translate their skills and expertise into an industrial setting.
INTRODUCTION
You will join us at our office in Cambridge, UK, where you will have the opportunity to work alongside our team of software developers, mathematicians, quantum information theorists, computational chemists and physicists – all experts in their fields.
Interns will have a dedicated supervisor and work on a project designed to make the best use of their background and skills whilst developing their knowledge of quantum computing. We will support all interns to try and produce a concrete output by the end of the internship e.g. a paper, product, or software tool. During your internship you will:
- Develop an understanding of quantum algorithms and industrial applications of quantum computers
- Research, devise and develop algorithms and software to enhance Riverlane’s capabilities
- Contribute to one or more projects that are core to Riverlane’s scientific goals
- Discuss ideas with colleagues and communicate research in the form of presentations and reports

“The learning curve has been vertical every day. I have gained so much value from being a part of cross-team discussions, I hope to bring this approach to problem solving with me in my future career.”
“I particularly valued the space and freedom to be able to suggest an idea, and to go with it. I love to get really lost in a puzzle and Riverlane encouraged this!”
“It's very exciting working with a growing company in an emerging technology – the industry is changing quickly and I've found it very interesting to see how Riverlane is adapting to make useful products. Everyone has been very welcoming and I've learned a lot.”
“It was a pleasure to tackle the difficulties of near-term quantum computing alongside a group with such a wide skillset. I have left feeling like I’ve achieved something meaningful and relevant to the company’s trajectory; one of the first quantum algorithms in Deltaflow.OS”
“I found that everyone I was working with very approachable and willing to help and discuss ideas, regardless of their seniority. My perspectives were always valued.”
“I thoroughly enjoyed my time at Riverlane. Not only did I learn a lot about quantum computing, but also got to experience first-hand how diverse teams come together within a company to tackle difficult challenges. It was inspiring to be part of such a warm, collaborative, and driven community.”
