About the report

The QEC Report 2026 is the third edition of our annual report on the state of quantum error correction.

QEC now sits at the heart of quantum computing. We are moving into an engineering era in which the industry is bringing together the codes, decoders, control systems, algorithms, and qubits into a single machine that runs reliably at scale.

Produced with Nature Research Intelligence, part of Springer Nature, this report combines publication, grant and patent analysis with interviews with 15 of the world’s leading QEC experts across 12 organisations to show where the field stands in 2026 and where it’s heading in 2027.
