About Us

Cambridge, UK | Full-time | Permanent

Riverlane is the world’s first quantum engineering company. We are hardware obsessed, qubit agile and commercially driven. We’re a passionate team collaboratively tackling some of humanity’s biggest opportunities, from climate change to materials science and new drug discovery.

You will join our cross-disciplinary team of software developers, mathematicians, quantum information theorists, computational chemists and physicists – all world experts in their fields. Our collaborative, close-knit team has a track record of delivering high-quality R&D across the full quantum stack. As a growing company, you will have the freedom to think independently and creatively, as well as contribute to Riverlane’s business development.

About the role

You will be the product manager for Deltaflow Control Superconducting, Riverlane’s quantum control product. Working closely with world-leading superconducting groups, you will understand their problems and guide our engineering team to build an effective control system for scalable superconducting quantum computing.

On the intersection between research and product development, you will define how our industry-leading technical work comes together into a product that will appeal to quantum computing hardware companies globally.

You must be passionate about discovering customer problems and requirements. You will need to be equally comfortable probing our customers’ technical and business needs; this will require developing significant technical knowledge about superconducting quantum computing. You will then help scope and steer the engineering and research efforts of the team based on the insights you gather. To ensure the team is building the right product, you will also need to develop and manage a reference customer program from which your team can continually derive actionable feedback.

What you will do

  • Work with engineers to guide the development of Deltaflow Control’s architecture and engineering priorities.
  • Identify and refine market opportunities and define product vision and strategy for Deltaflow Control.
  • Perform in-depth user research with our reference customers, discover pain points and limitations. Use these learnings to determine specifications for our engineer team to tailor our existing product towards superconducting
  • Work with Programme and Delivery Managers to prioritise engineering tasks for the Deltaflow Control team
  • Create programmes to test and iterate the product with users and customers
  • Own the relationship with reference customers and ensure that products are delivered on time and within budget
  • Share customer insights with the immediate team and the rest of the company
  • Own go-to-market plans, work closely with product marketing on launch plans and subsequent campaigns

What we need

  • Degree in physics, mathematics, computer science, engineering or related field
  • Demonstrable experience of working in a technical product management or technology strategy role OR demonstrable research experience in superconducting quantum computing
  • Experience working with or in engineering or research teams on technical products or projects
  • Ability to learn new technical subjects quickly, break them down into clear themes, and explain them to a broader audience.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills working across departments and disciplines
  • Ability to prioritise across multiple activities, prioritising the most important actions
  • Excitement about quantum computing and the opportunity to shape cutting-edge technology
  • Experience in maintaining and navigating customer and user relationships

Even better if

  • You have knowledge of embedded systems or System-on-Chip engineering
  • You have some project management experience
