Riverlane builds ground-breaking software to unleash the power of quantum computers. Backed by leading venture-capital funds and the University of Cambridge, we develop software that transforms quantum computers from experimental technology into commercial products.
You will join our cross-disciplinary team of software developers, mathematicians, quantum information theorists, computational chemists and physicists – all world experts in their fields. Our collaborative, close-knit team has a track record of delivering high-quality R&D across the full quantum stack. As a growing company, you will have the freedom to think independently and creatively, as well as contribute to Riverlane’s business development.
About the role
About the role
You will be the general product manager for Deltaflow Decode, Riverlane’s quantum error correction product. Working on the intersection between research and product development, you will define how our industry-leading technical work on noise modelling, new quantum error correcting codes and decoder implementation come together into a product that will appeal to quantum computing hardware companies around the world.
You must be passionate about discovering customer problems and requirements. You will need to be equally comfortable probing the technical and the business needs of our customers; this will require developing significant technical knowledge about quantum error correction. You will then help scope and steer the engineering and research efforts of the team based on the insights you gather. To ensure the team is building the right product, you will also need to develop and manage a reference customer program from which your team can continually derive actionable feedback.
What you will do
What you will do
Identify and refine market opportunities and define product vision and strategy for Deltaflow Decode
Focus the team’s research efforts by defining a research strategy in tandem with a product strategy for Deltaflow Decode
Perform in-depth user research with our reference customers and users to discover opportunities to apply our approach to practical implementations of quantum error correction; use these learnings to define new products specifications and enhance existing products
Work with Programme and Delivery Managers to prioritise research and R&D opportunities for the Deltaflow Decode team
Gather product requirements and work closely with the engineering team to translate these requirements into a technical implementation plan
Create programmes to test and iterate the product with users and customers
Own the relationship with reference customers and ensure that products are delivered on time and on budget
Share customer insights with the immediate team and the rest of the company
Own go-to-market plans, work closely with product marketing on launch plans and subsequent campaigns
What we need
Degree in physics, mathematics, computer science, engineering or related field
Demonstrable experience of working in a technical product management or technology strategy role OR extensive research experience in quantum computing (algorithms, error correction, quantum simulation, quantum hardware)
Previous product management responsibilities such as conducting product discovery, defining and refining product value propositions, performing user research and creating product requirement documents.
Experience working with or in engineering or research teams on technical products or projects
Experience maintaining and navigating customer and user relationships
Ability to learn new technical subjects quickly, break them down into clear themes, and explain them to a broader audience
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills working across departments and disciplines
Ability to prioritise across multiple activities, prioritising the most important actions
Excitement about quantum computing and the opportunity to shape cutting-edge technology
Even better if
You have knowledge about quantum error correction techniques
You have knowledge of embedded systems or System-on-Chip engineering
