Nick Johnson

Quantum Control Engineer

Nick is a physicist with over 6 year’s experience in trapped-ion quantum computing and 10 year’s experience working on science in the public sector. Nick achieved his PhD in Physics from the University of Sussex where he built a modular quantum processor using microchips connected by electric fields. After this he spent two years as a postdoctoral research fellow working on scalable architectures for trapped-ion quantum computers. Nick has a passion for physics outreach and public engagement, and is excited about achieving fault tolerant operations with error-corrected logical qubits.

Outside of work he enjoys reading books, spending time with family, and visiting new places (especially if tea is being served).
